The new Chevy Traverse AWD is vital in supporting service delivery and the generous donation from National Grid will enable the Red Cross to continually assist those in Rhode Island who need us most.

To celebrate, a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new vehicle was held in early December at National Grid’s North Kingstown facility to welcome the new SUV into the Red Cross fleet of disaster response vehicles.

So, what will the Red Cross do with this new vehicle? Glad you asked! The new vehicle will be used for disaster action team operations, including responding to home fires, preparedness activities including the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign and Pillowcase Project, disaster operations including large scale disaster response functions, volunteer recruitment and support activities, and general territory management and administrative support activities.
