Sport Utility Vehicle Generously Donated by National Grid
By: Stefanie Arcangelo, American Red Cross
We are excited to share that National Grid is partnering with the American Red Cross to provide a disaster response vehicle to be used in Rhode Island to deliver the Red Cross mission.
The new Chevy Traverse AWD is vital in supporting service delivery and the generous donation from National Grid will enable the Red Cross to continually assist those in Rhode Island who need us most.
To celebrate, a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new vehicle was held in early December at National Grid’s North Kingstown facility to welcome the new SUV into the Red Cross fleet of disaster response vehicles.
So, what will the Red Cross do with this new vehicle? Glad you asked! The new vehicle will be used for disaster action team operations, including responding to home fires, preparedness activities including the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign and Pillowcase Project, disaster operations including large scale disaster response functions, volunteer recruitment and support activities, and general territory management and administrative support activities.
In addition to the vehicle donation, National Grid also supports Red Cross programs and disaster relief efforts across it’s US footprint. Including as a Ready 365 Gold Level Partner for the American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. For more information about National Grid, visit www.nationalgridus.com.
